Bangai-O Spirits, my next DS game

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I have fond memories of playing the original Bangai-O on the Dreamcast.

It had both maniacal characters and an unfollowable “plotline” that had me laughing out loud level after level, and it had one of the most enjoyable “two-stick shooter” control mechanics ever. You could shoot in eight directions and your projectiles bounced off the [...]

The latest “new PC” plan

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I’ve been threatening to build a new PC every six months for the past 3 or 4 years, I just never pull the trigger on it. I don’t know why, seeing as I have no real problem spending as much money as it would take going out to bars and dinner and everything else.

This [...]

Packaging is hard sometimes

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I just received some new RAM for a laptop in our office. Apparently CDW had a hard time finding an envelope-like container to put it in, so they had to settle for a giant box:

I was always better at real geometry

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Not so good at Geometry Wars. Although I’m much better so far at Geometry Wars 2 than I ever was at the original game. I’m pretty sure it’s those geoms that keep me going. I’m a sucker for collecting things.

The internet’s been afire with talk of this new Geometry-based war over the [...]

FEBE

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

For all users of Firefox out there, you should check out the latest version of FEBE, the Firefox Extension Backup Extension. I know, it sounds kind of ridiculous, but I use enough computers and rebuild enough computers that I feel like I’m constantly reinstalling and reconfiguring my damn browser. I need something like [...]

TV Update

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Colette and I have been watching more TV shows lately, after a lull where we haven’t watched much since The Office season ended. On my own I’ve been making my way through The Shield season 3 and Generation Kill, but Colette doesn’t like ‘em, so I’m left to watching whenever I get a chance.

Over [...]

Mann movies

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Apparently I’m on a Michael Mann movie kick lately. Out of the last 5 Netflix movies I’ve received, 3 have been Mann films: Heat, The Insider, and Collateral. Each of them I enjoyed thoroughly. In order of quality from best to worst — Insider, Heat, Collateral.

I just read that Mann’s next project [...]

PC Piracy

Friday, August 8th, 2008

It seems like every other gaming-related post that zips by in my RSS reader is related to piracy in the PC games marketplace. First it was Crysis and Call of Duty 4, now Devil May Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed. Some publishers approach the problem with a proverbial shotgun, blasting out all sorts [...]

The future of the AppleTV

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

What is Apple’s long-term goal with the AppleTV? After nearly a year and a half on the market, it’s still seems like a Steve Jobs back-burner pet project. At first glance it looks like a simple Netflix/DVD competitor, and the way Apple has marketed it so far is as an alternative way to [...]
